MEDIA UPDATE
March 2006 United Airlines' Hemispheres Magazine
Kimberly Blair wrote a wonderful article, "No Place Like Dome" for United Airlines in flight magazine, "Hemispheres." It was a segment of articles about alternative housing. We've had several people contact us about seeing it while they were flying. The Dome of a Home is globetrotting these days. Thanks, United Airlines!!!
June 2006 Air Tran's In Flight GO Magazine
I was delighted when my web master, Greg Williams, told me we were included in Air Tran's June Prelude City quiz. We were question number six out of seven on a questionnaire about Pensacola, Florida. It's rewarding that the home is receiving recognition for its hurricane resistant nature. Thanks, Air Tran! Way to go, Dome of a Home!
6> The dome-shaped house (pictured above) is a popular architectural attraction on Pensacola Beach and can be rented out for vacations (www.domeofahome.com). What is the purpose of its shape?
a. The unusual shape helps reduce the damage in a hurricane
b. The shape is intended to resemble a motorcycle helmet
c. To maximize natural light in the house
August 16, 2006 Discovery Channel's
"Everything You Need To Know About Hurricanes"
A couple of months ago, Mark and I were relaxing on the couch watching Discovery Channel's "Everything You Need To Know About Hurricanes" when Mark's face popped up on the screen. He was, of course, discussing the attributes of the Dome of a Home's hurricane resistant features. Since DC used footage from a previous interview, we were completely surprised to see ourselves. A couple of weeks ago, the Discovery Channel called to get some more information for the updated program "Everything You Need To Know About Hurricanes" premiering on August 16, 2006.
